I am done with all my courses towards my MSIT Degree at RIT and am left with only capstone - project or thesis. I am unable to decide what should be my capstone. Well, I would like to go with thesis as I am very interested in research oriented stuff rather than application of knowledge(project). Also, taking up a thesis would greatly help me for my higher studies. At the same time, I don't want to waste my time doing research on something that is already done or something which might be a little out of focus. In short, I don't want to compromise about my thesis. Also, I want to do my thesis for a company or an organization as it would greatly help me in getting used to corporate style work. Apart from that I also can have a chance to look at the results of my research quickly.
But given all my interest and desire to go with thesis. There is also something that would bother me greatly if I take up the thesis option, it is nothing but my financial status. My studies here are funded by an educational loan from my country India and I don't want my Dad to keep paying the interest for the loan for a long time. As the thesis option takes a minimum of 6-9months to be completed, while a project would take only around 6 months. So, have to make a really good decision.
So, I will take up a thesis only if I think its really worth or else if I get some kind of sponsorship. Otherwise, I probably have to compromise with project.
I hope whatever decision I take would take through a nice experience involving knowledge and fun equally.
